My Purpose

My Purpose

A little over a year ago I was introduced to Minimalism.  This crazy awesome concept defined me perfectly.  After moving around my entire life, I never kept much "stuff" around and thought it was weird how people had so much crap buried deep in basements, packed full on bookshelves, and crammed into closets.  I went on a mission to clean out everything.

Well, almost everything!  My kitchen is my sanctuary.  It is, by far, my favorite space anywhere and I couldn't imagine getting rid of any of my gadgets.  This is what is so great about Minimalism.  You get to choose what to keep and what to purge.  Read more about the thoughts behind this by the gurus, Joshua and Ryan.

What I did do in the kitchen is decide to not waste anything and really start looking at the foods and cleaners that we use in our house.  I've never been a fan of preservatives in my food and chemicals in my cleaners but thought there was nothing I could really do.  Gradually, I have been purging those toxic things and replacing them with healthier options.  Have I banished all of these items from my house yet?  Um no, but it is a constant work in progress for me to find healthy alternatives.

I thought, while I am cleaning house, that I could share some of the lessons learned and great finds with other people looking for alternatives through this blog.
